December 14 - 18

I hope you have made your list and checked it twice! Only 12 more days until Christmas! We had a wonderful weekend enjoying the fire, reading lots of fun Christmas books, and drinking hot chocolate this weekend. I am trying hard to slow down and enjoy the holidays with my family this year.

The H1N1 Flu Clinic will be at Blount in the morning. All children who have returned their forms stating that they want the vaccination will receive the vaccination tomorrow.

We will continue with our regular classroom routine this week with the exception of our class party on Thursday. I have found that children do much better on a consistent and predictable routine. I will take several grades between Monday and Wednesday. A word wall check, two or three daily math and language grades. I plan to have all grades for the second nine weeks in by Wednesday.

READING
Our whole group sound for this week is /wh/ as in whale. We will finish up any incomplete Christmas activities this week.

MATH
We will complete Chapter 12 and begin Chapter 13 this week. I will not give a Chapter 12 test. We will just begin on Chapter 13, and then complete it in January.

LANGUAGE - (DOL)
We have covered rules 1-11, skipped Rule 12 for now and discussed rule 13 last week. These rules can be found in your child's take home notebook. Thursday there is usually a worksheet related to the newest rule introduced that is given for a grade. Friday's DOL is 5 sentences taken from Monday-Thursday's DOL for a grade.

Our class did really well on the DIBELS assessment last week. A summary report on the scores will be coming home soon. The DIBELS assessment took all week in the library. The children weren't able to check out books as usual and it seemed that the most of them didn't realize they needed to go until it was too late in the day. Maybe we can catch back up on AR testing this week.

FUTURE DATES TO KEEP IN MIND
