READING
Our whole group sound for this week is /g/ as in gorilla. Our writing job will be related to various topics that begin with the letter Gg.

Please take advantage of using the Renaissance at home program. You will be able to see the results of the AR tests and Math Facts in a Flash that your child takes. Students can earn "Blount Bucks" for achieving certain math levels. In first grade students will earn five dollars to spend at the Math store each time they have passed five levels. Ex. When they have passed five levels they will get five dollars to spend. When they pass ten levels they will get five more dollars to spend. Please practice hard!! Your child will be able to take practice tests and tests at home but it will not count towards their achievement level. Only test taken at school will be counted towards earning Blount Bucks. The Math store will only be open the last Friday of the month. Let me know if you have any questions!

MATH
We are test on Chapter 17 Tuesday or Wednesday and begin Chapter 18. Homework for math will be lessons 17 in the Practice Math Workbook. Look for the review sheet to come home the night before we test.

LANGUAGE - (DOL)
We have covered rules 1-19. I will introduce Rule 20-adding s to mean more than one. We are still continuing to practicing Rules 1-19 in sentences each week. Friday’s DOL will be taken for a daily grade as usual. We are going to review specifically Rules 11-16 next week, identifying words as being a noun, verb, adjective, pronoun, compound word and matching the two words to it’s contraction. We will have an activity (worksheet) to choose these words in the context of a simple sentence Thursday. This will be taken as a test grade.

A Few Reminders:
*We have been asked to remind parents not to drop off students before 7:20 am.

*Thanks for all who donated to the Haiti relief fund. We raised just over $3000.00 dollars!!! Way to go Blount!!

I hope your child has been working on Valentine cards. Please have your child bring their valentines to school no later than Friday morning! We will deliver the cards Friday morning before the party so they can enjoy them during the party.
